When I put the directory back, I got a crash (no hang), not yet shown to run (but I assume that it will). When I removed the as-installed default directory, I got the hang, then crash, then run behavior first described in the bug report. I just now looked hard at the contents of that logfile, and I think the only stuff getting written into it was the first time I start each new release of Eclipse, but I am not 100% sure. Other instances of this crash (3.4.2, e.g., which I will retest in a minute), had, I thought, written stuff into the as-installed workspace - at least I thought I saw that go by, but the pane containing that information was temporary - or temporary, because Eclipse was crashing. "Interesting" change in behavior (not that I have collected a statistically significant sample yet):įirst, note that my workspace is not in the as-installed default place. I assume this is the nightly to which you refer (I reached it through the MacOS path, though that does not show in the URL): I realize that the Apple Stack trace may not be that useful to you guys, but that's all that I got to work with.įYI, crash repeated next day with 3.5M6 again, so I will try the nightly ASAP. I captured the pictures of the plugin version pre-install, expecting that it might crash, and wanting to be sure I collected enough information to get you guys to take this bug seriously. I capture the crash information that the Apple "report this?" window presented. Since this fits the existing pattern of flaky behavior after a Scala plugin update, my guess is that this will repeat again 24 hours from now. Unlike its predecessors, which behaved badly by crashing out with a Java stack trace, 3.5M6 hangs (I waited minutes, before asking it to quit, waited more minutes, then did a force quit). Following the standard advice, restart Eclipse.ģ.5M6, like 3.4.2, like 3.4.1, behaves badly at this point. Wait 24 hours for the next version of the Scala plugin to appear.
